PART XX: SAILING THE BVIs
YEAR: SPRING 2017
Location: THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS
Once my friends had successfully made it to the neighboring island of Tortola in the BVIs, I took a quick flight from Antigua to join them at last!
We were a crew of four, and although I had only ever met one of the 3 people on board, all of us became quick friends!
We sailed, we hitchhiked, we had family dinners and we sipped up Caribbean cocktails. We saw beautiful beaches, scenic marinas and tropical island silhouettes in front of spectacular sunsets.
I have no regrets for joining this adventure, but I must admit that by the end of this trip I was nearly completely broke, and so it was time for me to return to work!
PART XXI: BALI AND THE BAHAMAS
YEAR: SUMMER 2017
Location: THE BAHAMAS & BALI
With a bank account at nearly $0 by the time I was finished with my escapades in Mexico, Antigua and the BVIs, I knew that I had to return to work ASAP!
My mission was to focus on building my brand, and although I had been very productive February-April, I needed to go back to yachting in order to have some money to invest back into all of my projects!
I worked for a couple of months in the Bahamas, and once I had saved enough again, I booked a one way ticket to an inspiring place I had always dreamed about: Bali!
Bali lured me in for many reason- gorgeous beaches and landscapes, amazing culture, amazing food, amazing people and affordable living!
I ended up having the best experiences while in Bali, including hiking volcanoes, motorbiking to waterfalls, exploring rice fields and trekking to nearby islands!
Although I used my time in Bali to adventure around a bit, I also was very focused on working on myself and my website. Bali is world-renowned for its yoga culture and retreat centers, and for the majority of the time, my priority was to find clarity and inspiration by detoxing both mentally and physically in a variety of ways. I spent a lot of time alone in nature and in cafes of Ubud, practiced yoga, meditated daily and even did a week-long juice cleanse.
I was on top of my game, and ended up working on my website quite a bit. I even road-tripped around Bali with another filmmaker to gather even more incredible shots for my youtube trailer! In total, I stayed in Bali for nearly 2 months.
PART XXII: WORKING MY WAY TOWARD MY DREAMS!
YEAR: FALL-WINTER 2017
Location: MEXICO & THE BAHAMAS
After Bali, I returned to visit home to upstate New York to visit my family for a bit, and nearly instantly landed a housesitting job in beautiful Ajijic, Mexico!
I flew down to watch a dog and a cat in a beautiful location along the largest fresh water lake in Mexico! I continued to work on my site and also decided to build a housesitting website for myself!
It was another productive month, but I was in desperate need for some money once again. After being away for 3 months or so, I found myself back aboard a couple of yachts, working back and forth between Florida and the Bahamas.
My plan was to work more than ever before, and to save more money than I have ever had! I wanted 2018 to be my best year yet!
In the meantime, I was also on a mission to land my dream job working with the Yacht Week, cruising the Mediterranean while working as a hostess for the summer of 2018! I was using all of my free time to devote myself to the application process of landing this job. I had a couple of interviews, and ended up getting the job as a hostess for the Yacht Week, and would be working in locations such as Croatia, Greece, Montenegro and Italy! I was ecstatic!
I was so excited to have my summer plans in order, and was so happy to be on the path toward working and saving money through to the summer!
I felt like everything was coming together- I was on top of the world- all of my plans were better than I could’ve ever hoped for!
Everything was perfect, but then…. one night, everything fell apart…
